Sorry it’s been so long since my last update. Time flies when you’re enjoying yourself, and at the moment I am pretty happy. I am not sure if it’s because the sun has been shining and although it’s cold and frosty it seems like spring. Whilst out on my runs and rides it’s really nice listening to the birds singing and all the other spring like sounds and smells which are upon us. The pool is in full use and although I have aches and pains, my heel in particular, I feel reasonably injury free at the moment.
As it’s been so long since my last blog entry, I’ll just comment on my last 3 days training. Saturday and Sunday’s schedule was a 2 hour run and a 2 hour ride. I decided I wanted to do these during the best part of the day weather wise. So, up reasonably early on Saturday and worked on building the garden pergola until 10.45 when I prepared for my run which I did between 11.00 and 13.00 hours. This meant I arrived home at lunch time. Immediately after lunch I was back to building the pergola. I repeated the same pattern on Sunday. This worked really well as I had the best weather of the day for training but also got a pergola built over the weekend. If I say so myself, it looks really good. If I remember I’ll have to attach some pictures of my handiwork. None of this kit rubbish, I built it from planks of timber.
Monday morning and I was in the pool for a 2,000 metre drills session before work and then I snuck in a 45 minute steady run at lunch time. This means my two sessions for the day are done and I get the evening to get on with other things. I really need to start pulling together my marathon training manual for beginners.
