Two sessions yesterday, an early morning swim and a lunch time run. The lunch time run went a bit pear-shaped. I was meant to be running with Nathan but he couldn’t make it until 14:30 hours (2:30pm) which subsequently turned in to 14:45 hours (2:45pm) and I clearly hadn’t had enough food throughout the morning. Even though it was only a 5 mile steady paced run at 75% to 80% of maximum heart rate I did feel empty in my legs. I should have snacked nearer to the run, whilst also allowing enough time for the food to digest. Running too close to a meal is not good for you as the blood is not as easily available at your working muscles as it is being used in the digestive and distribution process of the food.
